Machine Tool Spindle Fitter

Duties include the following as per the Spindle Services standards: -

  • To assemble precision spindles to Spindle Services standards.
  • To read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Tear down precision spindles for reconditioning.
  • Compile inspection reports and test run precision spindles.
  • Cleaning and preparation of parts for build.
  • Painting of parts, marshalling of parts and moving parts to correct locations as directed by your supervisor.
  • Identification of parts.
  • Inspection of components prior to build.
  • Inspection of parts orders only.
  • Setting up test rigs, monitoring of spindles on run test and taking of vibration analysis tests.
  • Use of machine tools for the adjustment of components including surface grinding, ring grinding, turning, drilling, milling etc.
  • Suitable packaging of products for shipment.
  • To problem solve within the team and independently.
  • To maintain a good level of housekeeping.
  • To carry out your duties in a safe manner following the correct working procedures and to avoid endangering yourself, fellow employees or any other persons on site.
  • To adhere to Spindle Services’ health and safety policies.
  • Service work at customers site as required. The majority of this is in the UK, however, please ensure that you have a valid passport in case of any overseas work.
  • Other tasks as specified by Supervisors/ Directors.

CNC/ Manual Lathe Operator/ Machinist

Duties include the following as per the Spindle Services standards: -

  • Machining of components to Spindle Services Standards in an economical fashion, must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Use of XYZ CNC Lathe, Surface Grinders, Offhand Grinders, Band Saw, Tub Grinders, Reciprocating Saw, Diamond Lap, etc. as required to produce components to drawing tolerances.
  • Inspection of components as required using the various inspection facilities available.
  • Preparation of reports may be required on occasion for specific customers.
  • De-burring and de-magnetization of parts for build.
  • Preparation of raw material as required (i.e.: cutting to length etc.)
  • Identification of tooling requirements for production purposes and procurement of tooling as required in conjunction with production engineering.
  • Identifying potential improvements in productivity and liaising with production engineering as required to implement improvements.
  • Cleaning down machines daily.
  • Organisation of tooling and fixturing to allow easy access to all machinists and easy identification.
  • To maintain a good level of housekeeping.
  • To problem solve within the team and independently.
  • Other tasks as specified by supervisors/ directors.

You will be operating an XYZ SLX425 x 1.25m Proturn Lathe & a Colchester Mastiff VS1800.

Project Engineer

Duties include the following as per the Spindle Services standards: -

  • To understand the company quality systems and improve with the managers and directors.
  • Preparation of quotations/ e-mails as required.
  • Organisation of engineering drawing systems.
  • Preparation of spreadsheets for costing and budget analysis purposes.
  • Maintaining existing and setting up new supplier relationships as required.
  • Preparation and issuing of Purchase Orders to suppliers.
  • Phoning suppliers to request quotations, preparation and sending of Requests For Quotations to suppliers.
  • Sorting out supplier and customer engineering queries as and when they arise, liaising with engineering contractors as required.
  • Design and control of inspection procedures in conjunction with the quality manager and the presentation of inspection data to customers.
  • Process planning of those parts to be operated by ourselves.
  • Assistance with packing and despatch as and when required.
  • Attending to visitors in a polite and courteous manner, looking after customers and suppliers as required.
  • Customer and supplier site visits will be required.
  • Stock control.
  • Marshalling of parts to prepare kits of parts ready for assembly.
  • Identification of parts shortages and chasing up shortages, ordering missing items etc.
  • Occasional inspection of components prior to delivery.
  • To maintain a good level of housekeeping.
  • To adhere to the company’s health and safety policies.
  • To problem solve within the team and independently.
  • Other tasks as specified by supervisors/ directors.
